Radio Stratosphere

It’s my goal is to introduce an annual Gallery Show dealing with different areas of radio history. For this years Gallery subject I have selected, Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy, my all time favorite act in the Golden Age of Radio, which was from 1935 to 1956.

Ventriloquist Edgar Bergen dominated radio airwaves from the mid-1930's through the mid-1950's with first the Chase and Sanborn Radio Hour and then later the Edgar Bergen Charlie McCarthy Show. Edgar Bergen's radio show reached millions of listeners on an average Sunday night in the 1930s.

This year's 2009 Gallery features one of the world's largest Bergen and McCarthy memorabilia collections. The 2009 Gallery highlights vast amounts of product merchandising that was a part of the Edgar Bergen, Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd 20-year dominance in America radio during the industry's Golden Years.

The Chase and Sanborn Hour on Sunday evenings with Edgar Bergen & Charlie McCarthy was the number number one rated radio show in America in the late 1930's
